British Council Research Programmes: Call for Reviewers 27/4/18

 BritishCouncil

“This is a great opportunity for Early Career Researchers (as well as established researchers) to gain some formal peer review experience.”

The British Council has launched a call for expressions of interest to join their pool of peer reviewers for Newton Fund programmes. They would like to recruit both established and early career researchers to expand their pool of reviewers for the Newton Fund and potentially other British Council programmes. The Newton Fund builds research and innovation partnerships with 18 partner countries to support their economic development and social welfare, and to develop their research and innovation capacity for long-term sustainable growth.

They are looking for early career researchers who would like to broaden their experience of peer review as a career development opportunity, and for established researchers who are willing to share and use their experience to support the review process. Please note that British Council can only consider researchers based at UK institutions.

British Council are seeking reviewers for applications to the following five panels:

  • Biological and Medical Sciences
  • Environment and Agriculture
  • Arts and Humanities
  • Social Sciences
  • Engineering and Physical Sciences

In particular, they would like to hear from researchers with expertise in fields with potential development impact, but this should be interpreted broadly as much of the research they fund approaches development challenges in a highly specialised way or using innovative methods.

British council will use the information provided in the form to process and consider your expression of interest. As a result, your name may be added to their pool of potential peer reviewers, and they may approach you in the future to assist them in assessing proposals under British Council research programmes.

Deadline for submitting expression of interest: 27 April 2018

Eligibility

Established and early career researchers. Early career is defined as being a PhD holder + up to 10 years. For fields where a PhD is not a usual career requirement, sufficient research experience will be accepted.
