The Importance of Greater Lincolnshire and Digital Businesses

As you may have noticed from our social media channels, we have been very busy over the past week, attending and sponsoring a surge of events across Greater Lincolnshire.

Earlier in May, we joined a variety of businesses in celebrating Lincolnshire Tech Week, a showcase of the fantastic digital and tech events, businesses and products across the county.

It would not be a celebration of all things tech without mentioning the key underlying theme of innovation and, as you know, this is an area in which we can provide a huge level of support.

Lincolnshire is home to many exciting, vibrant, growing businesses that are using innovation as a means of developing and evolving. As a proud sponsor of the recent Tech Week, we were able to speak to the people behind these fantastic exploits about the benefits of the Lincolnshire Innovation Programme.

Our aim has been, and continues to be, to support micro, small and medium businesses through the innovation process – a difficult yet extremely important progression – with the likes of grants, schemes and funding.

What better way, time and place to reach these businesses than at the terrific events that make Lincolnshire Tech Week such a popular period for local entrepreneurs?

Not only did we have a stand at the Lincolnshire Tech Expo, but Scott from iHealth Technology gave a fantastic talk about the support and advice he gained from the programme. Through our backing, Scott has been able to develop innovative technology that enables you to measure and monitor your body while exercising.

As the Tech Expo drew to a close, we didn’t have long to sit and twiddle our thumbs, with the excitement of the Lincolnshire Digital & Tech Awards the following day!

We were fortunate enough to be sat in the prime seats – right at the front on the University of Lincoln table – to applaud various local innovators as they won an array of awards, including the Innovation in Tech accolade that we were aptly sponsoring.

This award went to ScreenIT Media, with Tenantia Ltd announced as runners up. Congratulations to the both of them!

ScreenIT Media were worthy winners thanks to their innovative, digital advertising service that will soon be found on buses across Lincolnshire. Tenantia Ltd, meanwhile, provide an “engagement and risk management platform for the housing, care, health and smart community sectors.”

It’s very much awards season in Lincolnshire at the moment with the Lincolnshire & Tech Ceremony falling just before the East Lindsey Business Awards, yet another great ceremony we supported last month.

Sponsoring The Excellence in Digital Innovation category, we were delighted to hand the accolade over to Root2Recruit, an online recruitment company based in Louth.

Coinciding with Lincolnshire Tech Week was the Lincoln Hack, which took place over the 20th and 21st May. Now in its second year, the Hack consists of teams of four competing for 24 hours, starting with an idea and building it into something special.

Superb, unique events such as these are vital in regards to encouraging and supporting advancements in technology and innovation as a whole, which is why we of course sponsored the Lincoln Hack, hosted at Boole Technology Centre.

As both advocates of, and a source of support for, innovation, we have loved how much May’s schedule allowed us to meet, acknowledge and reward local excellence in regards to embracing business evolution.

We continue to be extremely proud to provide support for those not only setting the benchmark, but evolving their industry.
