The Economic and Social Research Council and the Arts and Humanities Research Council, under the Global Challenges Research Fund, invite proposals for their call on forced displacement. This supports innovative, interdisciplinary projects related to the experiences of the forced displaced, focusing on a breadth of economic, social, legal and cultural challenges, and issues facing displaced populations and their host communities in the modern age. Forced displacement may be due to poverty, war, conflict, prosecution or human rights violations.
Research organisations based in the UK may apply. Individuals who are not established members of the proposed host institution may apply, but the organisation must guarantee that the candidate may use its facilities. Academic researchers at PhD or equivalent level, from established overseas organisations of comparable standing to ESRC-eligible UK organisations, may be listed as co-investigators.
Awards are worth up to £300,000 each at 80 per cent full economic cost for a period of six to 24 months. Between 12 and 15 awards are available.
The deadline for this call is 20 July 2016.
