wellcome_logoThe Wellcome Trust is a proud champion of public engagement which places science at the heart of the cultural landscape. The launch of a new strategic framework last October has given them an opportunity to take a pause on their current funding cycle and reflect on how they deliver support for public engagement activities to make it even better.

From August 2016 the existing Engaging Science funding schemes will no longer be open for new applications. The new funding framework will be announced in November 2016 with the first deadlines for submission in early 2017.

There will be an opportunity to submit an application to most of Wellcome’s regular funding schemes before the end of July, the final deadlines are:

  • Capital Awards – 13 May 2016
  • People Awards – 20 May 2016
  • Small Arts – 1 June 2016
  • Co-Production Awards (Large) – 17 June 2016
  • Co-Production Awards (Small) – 8 July 2016
  • Development Awards – 27 July 2016

The following schemes will not have a further deadline in 2016:

  • Large Arts
  • Society Awards
  • Sustaining Excellence
  • Engagement Fellowships
  • International Engagement

For more information please visit the Wellcome Trust website.

If you are interested in submitting an application to one of the Engaging Science schemes before the end of July, please contact the central Research Office.
