Innovate UK – Energy Catalyst round 4

Innovate UK, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Department for International Development invite registrations for their early-stage award, mid-stage and late-stage awards, under the energy catalyst programme. The competition supports innovative solutions in any technology or sector area. The proposed solutions can focus on any part of the energy dilemma. For round 4, applications must also be relevant to the needs of developing countries.

The catalyst aims to speed up the commercialisation of UK energy innovation by focusing on the following three challenges: low carbon, security of supply and affordability. Innovations may include the following:

  • new technologies
  • enhancement or alternative applications of existing technologies
  • development of components, sub-systems or systems
  • integrated whole-system approaches
  • enabling technologies for the energy system

Proposals are encouraged to adopt and integrate cross-cutting and enabling technologies which are applicable across a range of sectors, including high-value manufacturing, advanced materials, sensors and ICT.
