New Calls for Proposals:

Education and poverty in Scotland – Viewpoint
This call is for short proposals to write a Viewpoint examining the lessons that can be learned from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s Education and Poverty programme in relation to education in Scotland.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 23:59 on Wednesday 24th July 2013

Education and poverty programme evaluation 
This call is for proposals for an evaluation of the JRF’s education and poverty programme.

The main focus of the evaluation should be on the impact of the research and activity from 2010 onwards. However, earlier programme activity may have continued to have an impact in recent years, in which case we would be interested in capturing this.

The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday 31th July 2013, 23:59.

Anti-poverty strategies – reviews (phase two)
These reviews will examine connections with poverty across different areas.

They will assess evidence for the impact of interventions or policies on poverty. We are initially asking proposers for a completed Expression of Interest form only.

The separate studies in phase two are listed below:

  • Transport 
  • Fuel and other essential services 
  • Family structure 
  • Communities and neighbourhoods 
  • Advice and support 
  • Adult and tertiary education 

The deadline for submitting your expressions of interest form(s) is 23:59 on 28th June 2013.

Housing and poverty – How can we build sustainable homes more cheaply?
This call for proposals aims to identify ‘how we can build good quality, sustainable homes more cheaply.’

The main aim of the study is to learn from existing attempts to reduce construction costs whilst maintaining (or improving standards) and why these efforts have not led to an increase in house building.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday 15th July 2013, 23:59.

Housing and poverty – Planning obligations: what factors deliver affordable homes and what alternatives are there?
This call for proposals aims to identify:

What factors make planning obligations work in delivering affordable housing? and
What alternatives can be used where planning obligations are not delivering sufficient affordable housing?
