Workshop on Power Electronics – Enabling a resilient energy system through cross sector working, 29 November 2012

The Enery Generation & Supply KTN, the ESP KTN and the Technology Strategy Board would like to invite you to a workshop on Power Electronics which will be held on the 29th of November at the University of Warwick alongside iPower2.

Objective: A workshop to promote multi-sector working to meet the challenges of future resilient energy systems through developing new partnerships and ideas for UK innovations.

Background: In the energy sector it is becoming recognised that power electronics and associated control/ICT are likely to be key enablers of a robust, resilient future energy system. Our future energy mix will change to include a larger percentage of renewables, connectivity with the European super grid, community energy systems, electric vehicle adoption and smart charging back into the grid, giving opportunities both home and abroad.

Organised by the Technology Strategy Board and Knowledge Transfer Networks this is an event that is all about linking communities across sectors including energy, transport, built environment, materials, and ICT through the common ground of power electronics. It will enable businesses large and small as well as the research base to meet new people, brainstorm new solutions, hear more about the challenges in the sector, and receive an update on Technology Strategy Board best current thinking on investment in this area in line with its current delivery plan and available toolset.
