LWEC Pinpoints Priority Research Needs for Health Sector

The RCUK cross-council programme Living With Environmental Change (LWEC) is to set up task forces that will conduct and pool research on various health issues following a report by LWEC’s Health Challenge Steering group  identifying the knowledge needed to address human health issues caused by environmental change.

The strategy framework sets a five year agenda and encompasses the evidence needs for policy, business and wider society; the priority activities to address these, how these priorities have been identified and what actions will be taken forward by the LWEC partners.

The priorities include extreme events; infectious diseases; pollution and chronic and non-communicable diseases; and behaviour, vulnerability and healthy resilient communities.

The Framework report is intended to be a living document and the current version can be downloaded from the Health Challenge page.
