Gill Wells, Senior EU Consultant at PNO, visited the University on 10th May to provide a brief introduction to European funding. The slides from that presentation are now available to University staff and students on the Research Office Portal (login required). Here’s the abstract:
The European Commission’s main research funding programme (FP7) runs for 7 years (until 2013) and has a budget of over 50 billion Euros. Most of this money is spent on grants to researchers across Eurrope and beyond.
This presentation will give a brief overview and introduce to FP7 under the four main areas of Co-operation; People; Ideas and Capacities and details of how researchers can participate, access grant income, and utilise Eurpean funding to enhance their international profile.
Gill Wells has over 17 years’ experience working with EU funding for R&D both as a Project Manager as well as Head of the Framework Office at the University of Sheffield. She has been involved in the submission, negotiation and post award management of more than 450 EU projects as well as delivering EU training courses in the UK, Cyprus, Austria, Greece, Australia and Bulgaria.
She recently joined the Dutch company PNO as the UK’s Senior EU Consultant working with almost 400 consultants. PNO in the UK works with some of Europe’s largest companies including Apple, BP, GE Healthcare, BT, Proctor and Gamble and Scottish and Southern Energy as well as with numerous innovative SMEs and research-intensive Universities.
