British Academy-ASEASUK/BASAS ECAF Visiting Fellowships 2012-13

Short Fellowship opportunities are available to enable scholars to make research visits to field-centres operated by the European Consortium for Asian Field Study (ECAF).  The purpose of the fellowships will be to advance the scholar’s personal research in Asia, build his/her wider networks and enable scholars to contribute to the academic life of the centres.

Awards are for a research visit of normally 1 – 4 months to be spent attached to one of the ECAF field-centres in Asia. Further details about ECAF are available here: http://www.ecafconsortium.com/centres.php

Eligibility

The fellowships are open to any scholar who holds a PhD and is currently affiliated with a UK higher education institution but who has not previously had substantial contact with the field centres.

Level of Grant

Each fellowship is to a maximum of £5,000 to cover personal travel, accommodation and research expenses, and the duration of the fellowship may be from one to four months.

Closing Date

The closing date for applications is 1 November 2012. Decisions will be announced by mid-December 2012. Research visits may take place up to and during summer 2013.

These fellowships are administered by the Association of South-East Asian Studies in the United Kingdom (ASEASUK) and the British Association for South Asian Studies (BASAS);applications should be submitted to ASEASUK or BASAS.
