Research Professional Downtime

Research Professional have just emailed to let us know about some planned downtime for the service next week:

Date: Tuesday 2nd August

Time: 6pm BST (5pm UTC)

Duration: up to 4 hours

This downtime is to allow us to deploy some updates to Research Professional to improve your experience on the site, including:

  • Updating the site to prevent your sessions from timing out
  • Changing URLs to make them simpler and clearer (don’t worry – old bookmarks and links you have will still work)
  • Standardising the behaviour of the ³back² button on your web browser
  • Speeding up the performance of Research Professional

Other than the changes listed above, Research Professional should function exactly as it does now.

We have also tried very hard indeed to ensure that all bugs have been eliminated. However, if you do notice any differences or bugs, please don’t hesitate to let us know on:

clientservices@researchresearch.com

Finally, this will be the last update to Research Professional to formally support the Internet Explorer 6 browser. Both Microsoft and Google are phasing out support for this version of Internet Explorer, as are various other organisations, and as such we feel we can reasonably follow suit.

If you don’t yet use the service, I’d encourage you to sign up for an account. It’s the most widely used research funding search service in UK universities and covers a comprehensive range of funders, from the large (EC, Research Councils) to the very small (charities, trusts and discipline-specific societies).

We’re happy to organise a bespoke training session for anyone who wants to use the service, either individually or in a small group. Please get in touch.
