Research Professional Online Demonstrations

Research Professional will host another free online demonstration next Tuesday, 28th June,  from 10 – 11am to ensure users are getting the most from the site. It is open to all members of staff and students within the University and you can register at the link below:

Tom Walters from Research Professional will introduce users to the site and provide a simple demonstration of how to locate funding opportunities which match your interests. Setting up email alerts will also be covered.

You can view the demonstrations from your own desktop or laptop and you can choose to use either your computer’s speakers and microphone or phone into a voice conference call. You will be able to ask questions using a text chat feature.

If you’re interested in finding out more about using Research Professional but can’t make the time of the demo, look out for our next Finding Research Funding session advertised via the Staff Learning and Development section of the portal, which covers the basics of using Research Professional and other selected funding search tools.

I signed up for this session the last time that it was publicised and was fairly sceptical about what use it would be. I’m by no means a new user of Research Professional, but I still found out tips and short cuts that I didn’t know about. I would recommend that anybody that is new to Research Professional and wants to get the most out of it, signs up for this. The session took less than an hour and really did take you through all the steps you need. There is a question and answer session at the end so if anything is unclear, the trainer will take you through that particular item, step by step, again. The whole session was jargon free and assumes that everybody is new to Research Professional. I would also say that even if you are a seasoned user of Research Professional it’s still worth a look, you don’t know what you might find out!
