EMEO FP7-CIP Regional Coordination Group: Social Sciences and Humanities

This upcoming event will be of interest to researchers who are considering putting together a bid for the Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities strand of FP7. It features input from Elizabeth Jones of the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills, as well as East Midlands European Office and FP7 Service:

Title: EMEO FP7-CIP Regional Coordination Group: Social Sciences and Humanities
Location: EMDA, Torvill Room, Nottingham NG2 4LA
Description: On 12 May an EMEO FP7-CIP Coordination Group was established to scope out where EMEO partner organisations could work together to draw-up bid applications under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP). As part of this initiative, a meeting on 25 September will be held to explore opportunities for EMEO partners under the Socio-Economic Sciences & Humanities (SSH) strand of FP7.

The Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities strand of FP7 looks at funding research into factors within knowledge economies, putting societal issues in a European context, demographic change, the role of Europe in the world and to citizens, indicators and foresight activities, and supporting policy development.

As SSH looks at issues surrounding the economy, demographics and bringing citizens closer to policy, there is a good scope for involvement of both university and local/regional authority involvement in this strand of FP7, for example economic and social cohesion at regional level is a theme for exploration. Therefore, the briefing and discussion which will take place at this meeting of the Coordination Group will allow partners to discuss issues of common interest and possible activities which could be considered for project applications. In addition, any pan-European proposals submitted under this programme could look to support policy development within the East Midlands and its cities and counties.

Start Time: 13:30
